ETD was selected to complete the first of six trail projects in the North River Ranger District in 2016. Work was completed on Wild Oak Trail and Dowells Draft Trail on the slopes of Hankey Mountain. Approximately 3 miles of  contouring multi-use trail was constructed and existing fall-line sections were rehabilitated. Careful machine work to provide minimal impact while creating a trail that would hold up to years of use was critical. The project included extensive rock work and construction in steep, mountainous terrain. Access was limited and remote for the duration of the construction of this trail. Several overlooks provided vast views of the national forest. Care was taken to honor the backcountry style of surrounding trails while also providing a unique and challenging riding experience that suited hikers just as well.
